How can I update the firmware of an LG DVD writer?
If a newer firmware is in fact available you can find it at the LG Product support.

Click on optical media and select your drive.
Firmwares will be listed in the Drivers & Software tab. Make sure to select the correct operating system and follow the included instructions (readme) properly and in detail.
An aborted or unsuccessful firmware can permanently damage your drive.
